Gavriil Dmitrievich Kachalin is known in the history of Russian football as the creator of the USSR national team. The team that became the Olympic champion in 1956 and the winner of the European Cup in 1960. He led the national team at three World championships, where it invariably overcame the framework of the group tournament.It was Kachalin who brought Lev Yashin and other well-known football players to the international arena. Gavriil Kachalin was the first football specialist to be awarded the title of Honored Coach of the USSR.
